Sammye Mardis-
"This trip to Uganda was a wonderful adventure! I left my family to travel across the world to see Sulaina, our beautiful little 9 year old girl in Kanungu. I thoroughly enjoyed the time I got to spend with her. She and I played with an aerobie.., until it landed on the roof of the school. I loved watching her determination and resourcefulness in getting it down, which we managed with the help of a chair, a stick and a tall man. I took much pleasure in making a quilt for her and then getting to personally wrap it around her little body that last night we were with the child-ren.
My time with Sulaina was way too short! Jackie and I were the leaders of the blue group and those children touched my heart deeply.
There is such a simpl-icity in the way they live. They are so un-affected by the things that consume the thoughts of children in America. It was so refreshing! The children sang a few songs that first night we were with them. Their voices were heavenly! It was wonderful to see even the oldest boys singing and doing the hand motions to the songs. The girls in my group were asking me what of their foods did I like to eat and then began teaching me how to say those words in their language. It was such a delight to be there in the midst of our children.
I know that I will pray for Sulaina and the other children with a new understanding and a greater passion for God to keep them and help them achieve their dreams."
